Ghosting/Artifcating in Text?
Greetings COWmunity…
I have been having these issues with Sony Vegas for a while now. Even text that was rendered in After Effects is showing this upon rendering in Vegas. You can see the “ghosting” (for lack of a better word) ardoun the “n” and other letters.
(I have had this issue in many vesions of Vegas as well…currently rendering with Pro 10).
Any insight into how to get rid of this would be greatly appreciated!

Does choice of font affect it? or in other words does it affect one font more than another?

It may have something to do with the codec used. What codec did you use to render with?

I think just maybe, that’s a windows media player issue
(seen this before). Does it looks ok in the Vegas preview
window when its on the timeline and when you play it thru

Thanks for everyone’s input so far.
(1) I have tried different fonts, different weights, and different “tracking” to see if that reduces the problem…it doesn’t seem to have an effect.
I have also created the text with Vegas’ text generators, titlers and have also used After Effects to creat text that is both static and moving (and then imported into Vegas…an example of which is in the photo)…
The above photo was rendered as an AVI file…(but I have encoded into MPEG2 as well in the past with the same problems). I am not exactly sure which codec is being used.
The “ghosting” issue doesn’t seem to be there when previewing the original media (captured as AVI) in Vegas itself. However, when the video files are ultimately rendered out and placed on a DVD the “ghosting” shows up on the TV as well.
I have rendered it out then placed the rendered product back into Vegas to view it from there…there does seem to be less of it, but it isn’t completely gone….

Size has a lot to do with it as well. Smaller fonts seem to be worse than larger fonts but the problem with your text is really strange.

Well… that could be part of your problem. Different codecs are better/worse for things like computer generated graphics. If you render directly to MPEG2 using one of the DVD Architect templates and then burn that to DVD using DVD Architect it should look fine.
Do you have any codec-paks installed? (like K-Lite) Perhaps some of your high quality Vegas codecs got replaced with inferior codecs by another program?

I haven’t installed any additional codecs or programs…just good old Vegas Pro 10…(As you can probably tell, I am very amateurish at this stuff)…how does one find out teh codecs being used?
