I’m not sure I follow your question. Are you trying to make a nested project or get something from a nested project into a master project without nesting?

Aloha Jr, sorry for being unclear..have a master project and a nested project that I put things together and then nest into the master. Have had smaller media that was easy to c/p but I have one that has 6 tracks including video/foto/music/grafix and wasnted to move the whole piece as one to nest in master without having to select each piece of media to c/p. I did a crtl/select media to end at each track and c/p and it pasted in master but not where i had cursor and track selected. And oddly c/p 4 media events that where already in the master to a nearby location but not originally selected. So, deleated that unwanted media and did a cut/paste to move the nested material to the desired location in master..??
Hope you can follow and there must be an easier way to move a larger region of media between projects..Thanks for your time..bobt

Not sure I understand what you really want, but maybe this is the answer…

If you want to copy/paste just a region, then set the in/out of that region, make sure the region is actually selected (double-click the region), then Ctrl-C to copy the region. Then just paste this somewhere else.

I guess I’m getting confused by your use of the term “nested”. A nested project is a complete and separate project that you drop into a master project and it behaves as one piece of media.

If you want to take 6 tracks from your main project and make it a nested project, I would save the master project under the name you want the nested project to have. Then I would delete everything except the region that you want to keep, and move it to the start of the project. This ensures that you don’t loose anything.

To do this, delete any tracks that are not part of the 6. Then make a timeline selection around the events you want to keep and press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+T. That will Select All and Trim to Timeline Selection. Then turn on Ripple Edit and move everything to the beginning of the project and save your project. It is now ready to be nested into your master project.
