  • Pan/crop… resize by drag has limit – how to overcome?

Posted by Gilles Gagnon on October 18, 2011 at 3:32 pm

I have a graphic which I use pan/crop to resize.

when I drag a corner, outward, to reduce the size of my image… the tool doesn’t allow me to drag as far as I would like. I can overcome this by manually changing the settings of the width/height but this annoys me.

    am i doing something wrong?

I’ve seen this behaviour many times, thought i’d finally ask to see if there is a solution.

There seems to be a hard limit of 12.5% (1/8x) for both the X/Y scale and the pan/crop window zoom. If you need to shrink a graphic more than 8x, then it looks like you need to do that outside Vegas.

You can probably use a combination of pan/crop and track motion if you need a smaller image.

Thanks Matt, I’ll try the track motion crop combo. Kind of a roundabout way but since I can’t do it with only the pan/crop, it may have to do.

I don’t want to have to create an additional, resized version of the graphic.

    Thanks again,

    Gilles
