    Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has ever tried to print to tape from Vegas to DVCPro HD? I have Sony Vegas Pro 10.e, and am trying to print my new TV show to DVCPro HD to include closed captions. I have a Blackmagic Decklink Studio 2 card, and am outputting via HD SDI.

The problem occurs after the pre-render is complete and the print to tape begins. The pre-render files are all created as uncompressed avi files, which are large in size and the computer cannot play them back smoothly. The files begin to stutter, the sound drops, and sometimes completely freeze.

I have 12 GB of RAM, a great HDD, and plenty of processing speed and power – it just seems impossible to play the pre-rendered files back all the way through without hiccups (I’ve watched the CPU usage while it’s working – and it never gets above 10%) Is there something I’m missing that might change this? Can I change the pre-render to output compressed files instead of uncompressed avi’s in the print to tape function?

Or does anyone know the acceptable video file formats for WGCL in Atlanta?

We’ve just worked so hard to make this happen – and we seemed to be stumped by Vegas.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy Wood

Use the blackmagic disk speed test to check the speed of your raid array. It may be dropping frames for uncompressed hd. You may need to try using the blackmagic mjpeg codec instead of uncompressed.
