  Full Screen Video Preview

  I am using Sony Vegas Pro 10e (Build 737). I am quite familiar with the program having used Vegas 8 for years but I’ve run into one problem with the full screen playback.

  When I load up a project I am able to click the button “Video Preview on an External Monitor” and I immediately get a perfect full screen playback. But if I click on the “Track FX” button for any video track in the project and then try to bring up a full screen playback I get nothing but a black screen. This is the case even if I do not add any FX or change anything. Simply by clicking on “Track FX” the full screen playback no longer works.

  I have found an imperfect workaround where I set the preview refresh rate to a different value than 60 (which is what my monitor refreshes at). This seems to force Vegas to recallibrate or something and makes the full screen preview work. Unfortunately it takes around 5 seconds to switch back and forth to full screen as Vegas recallibrates the refresh rate.

  Any advice on why the Track FX button is throwing off the full screen preview would be greatly appreciated.

  All I can think of is a problem with your graphics card display driver. Make sure that it’s up to date. I’ve never seen this problem before.

  This could be due to your choice of monitor profile in your preview device settings under Vegas Preferences. Perhaps it is set to something your monitor cannot support, and Vegas is auto selecting.

  You also need to let Windows extend your desktop in your display properties.

  If you have set things up correctly, you should be able to click on Identify Displays in Vegas and see a number 1 and 2 show on separate screens
