Graphic card for 3 displays..
Hi,
I’m looking for a graphic card for an editing workstation with Vegas pro. I would like to have 3 displays : 2 for the software and 1 for a LCD HDTV for my preview…
I was thinking about a card with 2 DVI and 1 HDMI… will that work in Vegas?
Does anyone could give me some advice…?Thanks !!

If you already have a video card for 2 displays…you could get something like the Blackmagic Intensity Pro that has HDMI out….it would also give you analog and HDMI input as well and works nicely with Vegas…

I already had a look at the blackmagic intensity pro. I was just wondering if with this card, do I have to use the blackmagic codec in vegas? I’m actually using EX1 MP4 end canon H.264 files in most of my projects., will i have to change something? Is it working like the actual standard firewire output?

Your can use 2 cards with 2 DVI or RGB outputs on each card. Windows will show all 4 displays in the display setup window, with the unused output grayed out.
I doubt the single card solution would work because when the HDMI is turned on, one DVI will get turned off. Anyone else ever try this?
I use the 2 card solution, GeForce 8600 GTS and GeForce GTS 450, and 3 Samsung monitors. Preview monitor set to 1080. Works great.
BTW, I also have a BlackMagic HD Extreme 3d card installed. I have used it for preview monitoring and it also works fine, but $900 is a lot to spend when a standard video card would work for what you need.

Intensity Pro is like $200….it can be used as the preview monitor inside of Vegas, very easy to use…

Even when I’m working with different codec on my timeline? There’s no need to use blackmagic codec ?
