Media FX only for 1 clip
Hey everyone, I’ve got this very annoying problem which I can’t solve: i’ll try to explain it:
1) I’ve got 2 times Sony Vegas pro 8.0 opened on my PC: SV1 and SV2 they’re both in the Taskbar
2) In SV1 i’ve got 2 clips, I copy-paste one of those clips to SV2 and I use media fx –> color curve to make the colors better
3)The second clip I also copy to SV2 but I don’t need the colors brighter but it automaticly uses the color curve
4) Now I switch the color curve for the second clip off, i look at the first clip and color curve is also gone?!I need to use the media fx –> color curves just for a couple of clips in 1 project, not to all, how do i fix this?

Vegas doesn’t contain “clips” so I believe you mean “events”. It sounds like both events use the same media. If so what you want to do is not possible at the media level. Add the FX to the events instead.

Ok but I have to re-do everything then?
Another question: I’m making a little holiday-movie and I’m creating different chapters which are all saved in about 5 (the amount of chapters) .veg files, each chapter contains a lot ‘events’, but at the end of the editing part i want to melt everything together, it’s probably not going to work this way. Do i have to render everything each chapter, then import them to vegas again and then render the whole movie? Or am i going to have problems there?

Well… You have to apply the FX to the events. I though you were only talking about two events that you pasted.

You can just place all of the project .veg files into a new project and render from there as one file.

But what happens if i render all of e’m seperatly and then render all those rendered files AGAIN? Will it still work?

Yes but you will loose quality. Every render loose some quality. Kind of like making a copy of a VHS tape (but not quite that bad). If you drop the project files on the timeline, Vegas will only render once and maintain higher quality. But if you are fine with the quality after rendering twice, then it’s a good solution for you.
