First I am upgrading the computer and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the AMD Phenom 6 core processors and if so are you happy with them.
Second I’ve made a mistake and put Vegas on the D drive and want to move it to the C drive. Do I need to do anything other than remove it and reinstall it or do I need to go deeper and, if so, what exactly do I need to do? Thanks, Dan

Yes, just remove and reinstall the program.

As far as processors go, you want the fastest processor and as much RAM that you can afford. That honor moves back and forth between Intel and AMD. Currently the Intel i7 dominates, but the AMD hex-core is no slouch either. AMD has a processor in the pipeline that by the end of the year the trophy may swap again.

My friend has a six core with Vegas Pro 10 and it performs fairly close to my i7.

I have a six-core that I’m testing out. It seems to be doing a good job at rendering.
Check out Tom’s hardware cpu benchmarks for a thorough comparison.

I use the AMD hexacore and have had awesome results….for the price I saved vs the i7….I was able to purchase other things I needed…but buy the best you can afford. Make sure RAM and Motherboard are also of high quality…I have had great luck with Gigabyte, MSI and ASUS for MB’s…..I would buy another AMD hex any day at this time…

    Warmly
