  Settings for a Previously Made DVD on the Timeline??

  Hi,
  I am currently using Vegas Pro 9. I imported a SD 4.3 720p pre-made dvd into Vegas, which is now on the timeline. I would like some advice on what my “Render As” and “Preference” settings should be set at? I also will be setting my aspect ratio at 16.9. I will be editing and adding transitions, music, effects. My final output will be dvd in DVD Architect. I realize their is a lot of different settings that may need to be set, but your help would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you, Ray

  1) As you will effectively be re-rendering compressed footage (the imported DVD video), don’t expect your DVD output quality to look identical to the original.

  2) You are also effectively resizing from 4:3 to 16:9, which means you will probably end up cropping your video to get rid of the black bars, unless you want them there on the sides. Doing so will mean another video quality hit.

  Render your video to MainConcept MPEG2 with any of the DVD Architect … templates that match your location and videos aspect (NTSC or PAL and 16:9 Widescreen). Then render your audio as Dolby Digital AC3 with the Stereo DVD template. These are the files that you should use when authoring your DVD with DVD Architect.
