  • Can’t get the right aspect ratio when importing MOV file

Posted by Jason Yip on July 18, 2011 at 7:07 pm

I’ve got a 16:9 MOV file. Watched the clip and it is indeed widescreen. When I drag the file onto the Vegas 16:9 timeline it appears as a squished 4:3 image with black bars on both sides. Why is this and how can I get it to properly fill the frame?

I’m also having issues with the audio playback–either playing out of sync or not at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Right-click the event on the timeline and select Properties. Then go to the Media tab and change the Pixel Aspect Ratio to be widescreen.

Not playing at all might be a missing audio codec. Go into the properties of the event and see what audio codec is being used.
