Multicamera editing in Vegas
Is it possible in Vegas to have latch like automation on the cameras you choose in multicamera editing. What I want to do is to go back a minute in my video and press play. Whenever I choose a camera I want that one to stick and not follow the “previous” change I made in the last pass where I chose videos.

I’m not following you at all.
If I don’t like a camera selection I made, I just CTRL-Z and go back in the timeline a few seconds.Steve Mann

If I just fixed a section, then I could undo it. But perhaps I wanted to go back and redo a one minute section of the film. Since I do a music video, I’m switching cameras often. So the old switches would still be triggered in addition to the new ones.

Since you aren’t doing simple multicam edits, then I would go back to doing it the old-fashioned way.
Actually, I routinely do my rough edits using the Vegas multicam tool, then I expand the takes to tracks (without keeping he unused takes) and fine tune my edits.

I believe the answer to what you are asking is that if you get out of Multicamera editing and uncollapse the timeline, can you recollapse it and go back into MC editing and edit it again to make changes to the takes? Yes. Highlight the tracks you want to go back into (assumption here is the same ones you were editing before), turn on MCE and create a MC track. as you move through the timeline, wherever you are rightclick on that position, and go up to TAKE on the menu items, then you will see a list of all the takes,with the active one marked, and just choose a different one. Or go back to your preveiw and choose it there.

I don’t like working with takes, so I expand the Multicam tracks without keeping the muted events. When I finish my final edits, I simply merge the events into one track.

Thanks for the input guys. I normally work with audio, where I often edit small sections. I replay and work on a small section and getting only the changes you do on that “run”. The edits after and before this section is untouched. I would expect this kind of features to be common in video editing programs, no? I’m just getting into the audio editing world, so I have no knowledge here 🙂

You could also take a look at Vasst Infinitcam or Ultimate S Pro. I don’t particularly like the way Vegas edits multicam, and found that the Ultimate S plugin suited my style of workflow.
