So Ive chucked out a codec I figure – but which one and how do I replace it.

After a bit of a clean up of my desk top and trash bin the preview vision has disappeared. (why there was an ‘active’ codec on my desk top or in my trash I can only wonder!!!)

There is no greying out on the time line – everything looks fine and I have audio – but no vision in the preview. ggrrrr 🙁

Can anyone suggest a resolution please?

You need to determine what codec your source files need. You can use a free tool like GSpot or MediaInfo to determine the codec. GSpot will even tell you if it’s installed and working. If it’s not, then download only that codec from a reputable source.

    Hi again John
we have to stop meeting like this 🙂
Still not sure what the problem was but seemingly not a codec.
I copied the time line data and pasted it into a new project and it all works perfectly.
I threw out the project that I couldnt preview.
    weird or what.

thank you for coming to the rescue.

That’s strange but I’m glad you figured it out. Take care,
