Gearshift, Neoscene and AVCHD workflow
We just purchased a Canon XA10 camera to use with our Sony Vegas Pro (build “d”)…
Does the current version of Gearshift support the AVCHD files from from the Canon and will it work with Vegas Pro 10 (d)? The website doesn’t list any recent software or camera compatibilities…
Also, with the intent of a 720p final product for web video use FROM a mix of the Canon footage (1080-60i or maybe PF30), stills (square pixel), and various other source material all on the same timeline in Vegas, what’s the best proxy workflow? Use Gearshift? With DV widescreen (what about the non-square pixel factor and dealing with stills?)? Sony YUV? Uncompressed? Huge files? Just convert to Sony MXF and work with them on the timeline and bypass Gearshift altogether? Just use Neoscene to convert the files and use them on the timeline for editing AND final render?
… and at what point would be the best place to convert the 1080i to 720p – which software/intermediary file/codec?
I have a few days left to make any purchases before they close my budget down – any help would be much appreciated! 🙂
