Media Offline on Vegas 8
Hello, everyone!
I’ve been working with Sony Vegas 8 for about a year now, but since my other computer was wearing out on me, I moved all my clips and projects onto an external hard drive. On my old computer, I was able to access both without any problem from the external hard drive once I moved them.
However, with my new computer (my old system was Vista, my new is Windows 7), even though I installed the same version of Sony Vegas 8 (from the same disk), for some reason, no video clips are appearing in my projects. I’ve specified the location on my harddrive, but even though the sound works fine, no actual clips are showing up. This concerns me a lot, since I had a lot of projects midway done when I switched computers.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I’ve also moved the clips from the external hard drive to my computer, but even then the video clips wont show up. Vegas also says there’s an unknown error with the media after a few seconds of opening it.
If anyone can help me with this problem, I would be extremely grateful!

You are apparently missing the codec you had installed on the old machine that is not installed on your new machine. Do a search for “codec” and you’ll find all kinds of information.

Yes. And the answer is “The one you need”. Do the search which will guide you to programs that you can use to determine which codec you need.
