Convert 30fps to 29.97fps
This is how I do it:
1. Establish that the camera really is producing video at 30fps and not 29.97fps. Vegas is good at getting the fps right.
2. In Sony Vegas right-click on the video clip in the time-line, and change the undersample rate to 0.999. The fps to the right of the rate box will change from 30.000 to 29.970.
That’s it.
Notes:
The video clip will now be running ever so slightly slower, so on long clips you may want to adjust the length of the clip to retain the last few frames. You may also need to slow the audio down to match the video length – I’ve never seen the need to do this as my clips tend to be less than 20 seconds and rarely of people speaking.Provided no other effects, clipping etc. have been applied to the video clip, this undersample adjustment can be copied to many clips. Using the copy and Paste Event Attributes feature.
