low memory …i’m in trouble.
OMG!!! Someone help me please. I just don’t know what happened. I tried rendering a 5 minute video on HD. About 2 hours into rendering ( I have no idea why it takes so long to render) My rendering stopped and it said “Your memory is too low” so it stopped my rendering . I checked my Disc C and noticed my memory was low which i was very surprised since I had not added any software and i felt like there was no possible way that could happen. So I started deleting as much stuff as possible , i even transfered all my music and videos to an external hard drive i own. I once again checked my memory and I now had freed more space ( don’t remember how much exactly but i’m guessing I had at least 40 GB free space ( which i still found so little since I have nothing left on my computer that would take up that much space) anyways I decided to try rendering the HD video this time thinking that maybe it was my fault. And about 2 hours into the rendering again , sony vegas stopped rendering and it said ” low memory” I was shocked since I knew that was impossible . I went to check my disc C and to my surprise I have
567 MB. What is going on? Has Vegas eaten up all my memory? I have deleted everything I could even got rid of my music and pictures and movies…. there is no way I can delete anything else to free any space. In other words I have no space left yet I have nothing to delete anymore. Has this ever happened to anyone?
PS: I have been able to render regular videos on sony vegas pro 10, the issues started when i tried to render a HD video for the first time.
I guess I won’t be able to render HD. I just really want my memory back. -

I think “low memory” has nothing to do with hard drive space available. It is related to the RAM available.

If you have FX on the timeline, then two hours for a five-minute video is not unusual.
You don’t say anything about your PC or your source file format or what you are trying to “render as”.
As Mike said, memory has nothing to do with your drive space, but trying to edit with only 500Mb free on your only hard-disk drive indicates that your PC may be inadequate for video editing. Since Vegas creates temporary files as large as your final output file, you could be in a condition where Windows wants to create more pagefile space to prevent a “low memory” error, but there’s not enough free contiguous hard-disk to do it, so Windows *may* present it as a “low memory” error.

thanks for the tips Stephen…. as of right now I have 152 GB on my disk c. I think that should make it…i think my problem was that i tried rendering a hd video without having enough GB ..so as you mentio the temporary file was probably too big and that’s why it could not render it. i’m just trying to render videos for youtube HD. 5 minutes sometimes 8 minutes the most. I’m going to try again !! thanks

Stephen I have 1536 pagin file. You think that’s good enough to render a youtube HD video? let me know please cause i might try it again…i just don’t want to suffer the same thing again.

I don’t understand. Is this the size of your pagefile in Mb? It seems small.
How much RAM do you have, and is drive-C the only hard disk in your PC?Steve Mann

I have 1.00 GB of RAM
and the total paging file size for all drives 1536 MB
and I also have a disk D in which i have 882 MB free space (7.14 GB used)
let me know what you think… -
1GB? I am amazed that you can even run Windows.
Your PC is seriously underpowered for video editing. What’s your second drive, 10Gb? That’s almost nothing.
That’s like crossing the ocean in a rowboat. You can do it but it will be slow and painful.
