Green screen problem–with screenshot
I follow green screen tutorials exactly and this is as close as I get, the background only appears on the top and bottom. What setting is wrong? How do I fix this?

Which plugin are you using? Please post a screenshot of what your settings are there.

I am using the chromakeyer plugin that comes with vegas. I don’t know what you mean by my plugin settings, it’s the same as everyone else’s that I’ve seen on tutorials. I adjust the settings to mask the stuff out and that works but as you can see it doesn’t replace the background properly.

You simply need to Match the aspect ratio of the
the green screen footage to the project and you are ok.Go to Event pan/crop of the keyed event, then right click

Does track order make a difference? Is that Dean’s problem? It’s been over a year since I green screened… .

I can see your result, that doesn’t tell me exactly how you got there. It could be a problem with the compositing mode you’ve set for the track, a setting you’ve over-looked in the plugin, or something else entirely. It will help to see your FX settings and track settings. You could even send the .veg file over.

I would create a new Video track on the top, Put the green screen clip on the top track. Apply the chromakey on that event, not the track. Place the background clip under that new track. Try it first without checking Show Mask Only, you should see the lower track somewhat as you tweek it in. I sounds like you inadvertenly changed the track settings on the track the greenscreen clip was on. A new track will be default. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
