When I go to capture something on Sony, it only captures the first and last scenes. My fire wire is working fine. I’m not sure what else to try, and I need to finish this project for my final that’s due. Any suggestions?

Try disabling automatic scene detection in the capture preferences.

If you end up getting nothing, check as well to see if your disk formatted to NTFS or FAT32. FAT32 has a known file size creation limitation of 4GB.

You can convert disks to NTFS without losing data or having to reformat.

I only have one Sony HVR-A1 tape based camera left. I just sent it out for repair again since they didn’t fix it right the first time. It’s AVCHD with an I7 for me from now on.
