  Plugin for Face Tracking / Video Cropping

  Does anyone know of a plugin that will:

  1. automatically find and track a single speaker’s face
  2. crop the video to center on the face

  Basically, I have some 16×9 video where there is just a talking head. For a number of reasons, I’d like to crop it to 4×3 … but the cameraperson did not keep them in the 4×3 safe zone. As such, I’d like to pan/zoom on the face and crop accordingly.

  Montage Magic is a Vegas plug-in that can find the faces for you. It is not doing exactly what you are asking, but probably you can set the settings in such a way that it will be very usefull for you:

  Please note: Montage Magic works with photos – not video. It will detect faces and use those locations to properly determine where/how to pan/zoom on photos.

  Singular Software has a product that does some of what you’re saying but it’s not exactly what you’re wanting… see here:

  I like the singular software solutions … however they sort of do *too* much (they turn several streams into a single stream). I just want the face tracking, zoom/pan and crop functionality on a single stream.

  Maybe I will just email them to see if they can split out that feature since they clearly have figured out 99% of the solution.
