component video vs HDMI for color for TV
I need to render out for TV.
It is my understanding that I do not want to look at my computer monitor to color correct but to output YUV into a component monitor as apposed to digital? (rich Harrington training DVD for MAC)
IS HDMI still a pure digital image and not analog? or the same as component, but better?
I have the Quadro 4000 what can I use to get component out???I was using intensity pro that is a undependable nightmare?

I’m not sure what Rich was referring to but that sounds like advice for an SD workflow. You can certainly use a digital monitor for color correcting HD with Vegas Pro. This is why Sony gives you the option to preview on the Windows Secondary Monitor. Make sure that you have a high quality monitor and that it is properly calibrated with a hardware calibration device like the Datacolor Spyder 3 or equivalent.

I will watch what he said again , but I think it had to do with RGB computer monitor and YUV Television standards for color levels are not the same. and that computer monitors dont give you the same view as an anolog YUV. I will watch again, but I was looking for a way to hook to my HD TV to check it via component – I have the spider from your suggestion before. it works fine

That’s correct which is why I said it was advice for analog Standard Definition. Most HD TV’s are digital LCD’s. Your digital LCD computer monitor is the same technology which is why it’s OK to color correct for HD on it as long as it’s calibrated.

Yes, HDMI is pure digital and is superior to component out.

The Quadro 4000 has Dual Link DVI-I and DisplayPort output that are both digital. So you an use any broadcast monitor that accepts these connections. It does have a daughter card that you can buy for SDI input and output. I don’t believe you could get component out nor would you want to. If you’re working with HD you want to stay all digital.
