Using Vegas on a mac with Bootcamp
Aloha to All.
Allow me to begin by saying thank you in advance for any and all help. Please understand I am a marine biologist first and a videographer second so please excuse my elementary knowledge.I am asking if anyone has experience in using Vegas Pro 10 on a mac using bootcamp. The reason being is I just found out that final cut suite (fcs) doesn’t have a blu-ray authoring program. I’ve created a 70 min movie using fc express (due to budget reasons) knowing that I would purchase fcs because apple advertises blu-ray capabilities with fcs, but it only burns, not authors blu-ray discs. I know I can author blu-ray in adobe encore cs5, but $1600 for production suite is steep.
So…
Since Sony invented Blu-ray, I figure it would be better to author my movie in Vegas.Proposed workflow:
-edit and export movie in fcs using compressor to either mpg2 or H.264 file (include audio file)
-import the new movie and its audio file into Vegas
-author blu-ray disc with menu and chapter selections using Vegas
-burn in Vegas.Does anyone have any reservations or experience with this?

Aloha Charlie,
There are Vegas Pro users who use Bootcamp with no problems at all so you should be fine. Another options is to use VMware Fusion which will allow you to run Vegas Pro and DVD Architect in a VMware virtual machine right on your Mac desktop! No need to reboot. I run Vegas Pro this way all the time from my Ubuntu Linux desktop on my laptop and it works fine. So that’s another option for you.
