    Hey there!
I’ve got this problem with Sony Vegas 10 pro.
I’ve been using the software for years, but Vegas 10 seems to be super slow for me. I’ve been using it for a while now though, and it’s getting very annoying.
Whenever I open a project, or import files into vegas, it starts to have insane amounts of lag, and it takes up all of my CPU. (Got an intel 2 quad core @ 2.5gHz, and 4gb RAM, pretty decent)
Just loading a project, or importing a video file from 5 minutes long can take up to 30 minutes. and during that time, I’m not able to do anything else because of the insane lag it gives me.
I also have Vegas 8 pro, it is outdated so I don’t use it anymore, but I just tried that again.
It imported the clips which took me 30 minutes to import in vegas 10, in 5 seconds.

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, if it’s something with my computer or if it’s something with the software itself, I hope you guys know what I can possibly do to improve this.

    Thanks sincerely.

Are you using Vegas 10.oc 64bit version?

Sounds like there is something in your media bin that Vegas is trying to relink upon starting which has been deleted/renamed outside of Vegas. You might want to inspect it and give it a thorough clean out.

If you are accessing your project files on an external USB 2.0 drive, that is also a known cause for sluggishness.

As a last resort you could also try defaulting your Vegas installation as you start it:

Click on the Sony Vegas icon whilst at the same time holding down ‘CTRL’ and ‘SHIFT’.

    Intel i7 920, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10 (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

Oh, I just found out that I haven’t got it updated yet, I’ll try to update it to 10.c (It’s now 10.a), But I’m not sure if that’ll work.
    And I’m on x86 (32 bit).
