Drag Green Screen Video Over Background
Hey
So I have a background video and I need to drag another video over top of it with a green screened out background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFgk3OxXZHk < That is the video that i need to drag over top to make it look like the Dinosaur is walking on the grass (being the background video).Help will be greatly appreciated or a video tutorial you may have found explaining my problem.

**The program I use is Sony Vegas Platinum Edition 9.0

It might be tough since the dino is shades of gray and the background is black. First, you have to get the video of the dino onto the Vegas timeline. How were you going to do that? Next, you can try what’s often called “difference keying”. I’ve never done it, but if you search this forum you should be able to find relevant posts.

I would use the Mask Generator to create a luma key from the black background. The only problem you will have is that the T-Rex has some black on him so the key won’t be perfect.
To do this:
- Duplicate the track and make the lower track a compositing child of the upper track.
- Then drop the Mask Generator on the upper track and adjust the Hi and Low settings until the image is completely black and white with no shades of gray.
- Finally change the compositing mode of the upper track to Multiply (Mask)
Anything you have on the track below the two T-Rex tracks should show through.

You can use Track Motion to move the T-Rex from one side to the other. In order to make this believable you need to calculate the width of the dinosaur’s gait (i.e., the max distance between his feet as it walks) and the scale of the background, and make sure that his speed matches his walk so that his feet don’t appear to slip.
