  • Question on installing sony vegas?

Posted by Mike Garcia on April 16, 2011 at 8:32 pm

I am trying to install the trial version of sony vegas, but everytime I attemp to I get a 1603 error. So I installed it on another computer on a memory stick and want to be able to open it on this computer but it always askes for a serial number to allow it to open on this computer from the memory stick, but where am I getting the 1603 error from in the first place? It always happens on the “COMPUTING SPACE REQUIREMENTS” does it have to do with my space because I have enough?

I have transfered the file from the memory stick to the computer, but it ask for a serial number because im on a different user, not the same computer. Is there a way I can stick it in a computer, load sony vegas, not install and try to install on this computer?

    Mike,
If you install on a memory stick and move that to another computer, the registry entries that are needed do not move with the stick.

That’s why it’s forgotten that you want to run it in trial mode.

I am afraid you’ll have to install the trial on the machine on which you want to ‘try’ it.

What is giving the 1603 error? Windows or the SONY Vegas installer?
Is there any text with it? Can you post a screen-shot here?

    Cheers for now,

I got the error 1603 when reinstalling Vegas a couple of times. the only difference i see or experienced is the camera lens icon on the desktop. If there is something else related let me know.

As for uploading the program from a media stick. With all due respect it sounds like you are trying to get something for nothing. If you want to try Vegas it is just as easy to download the free trial and try it.

Puzzling. If this were the case why would I get that error with 495GB of space on the C drive?
