Sony HDR-XR 150
I just recently purchased this and am now realizing that authoring these videos are far more complicated than just burning dvd’s.
The softwares i have are vegas pro 5.0 dvd architect, adobe audition, premiere and after effects… all are latest versions, I also have Main Concept.What i want to do is author the videos in the best quality i can to blu ray. In the beginning i did not know there are so many ways to render/encode. What i initially want do do is convert the 1920x1080i/60(29.970???) to 24p then burn it to bluray but the more i read the more confused i get (3:2 pulldown 3:2:2:3 pulldown),frame blending…..etc.Either way i have pretty much no idea how to do it.The software that came with the camera does a terrible job and i have already went through 3 bluray dvd’s trying to figure out how to get it right.

Thus, your target for Blu-ray needs to be that resolution. Set your project Template to “HD 1080-60i (1920×1080, 29.970fps) and render out to MainConcept MPEG-2, template = “Blu-ray 1920×1080-60i, 25Mbps video stream” or Sony AVC, template = “Blu-ray 1929×1080-60i, 16Mbps video stream”, and you should be well on your way to HD video happiness.I recorded it in the highest settings.
I know either way I have the software to accomplish this but i am unsure on what software to use at what steps and at what settings.
I jsut dont want this to end up being a $400.00 paperweight.

Not quite, not when you are using Vegas 5, which is way behind in
handling this and other new formats efficiently. What you need to
do is try Vegas 10 first and then we take it from there.Steve Rhoden
