  Advice on best software for 3 uses of basic editing.

  Hi.

  I am very new in the video editing scene, using it for VERY basic purposes.

  I am looking for 2 different uses of video editing software.
  a) capturing a live audio/video feed from a live Video DJ performance
  b) beat-synching videos with shifts in beat (sort of like Acid for video)

  Can you recommend plugins for Vegas or different software to achieve this?

  Hi Dom,

  Your on the right forum for information on Editing. I started out with Vegas 4 and been with it ever since thanks to my instructor from College of DuPage. You can’t get any easlier than Sony Vegas Pro with room to expan your horizons. Check out this site for software:

  I always have on hand is Acid and Sound Forge. Plus there’s other sites to go to that I have not mentioned for Plugins. There’s the famous Creative Cow for support from editors all around the world when you have a question. Remember, all questions are welcome, even the very basic ones.   You can do this with Vegas. The video capture is done via firewire and Vegas doesn’t care if you are playing a tape or using a live camera, it will capture whatever you feed it.

  Vegas can do this too. Every project has a tempo associated with it. You can change the tempo to match the song. You can also turn on an option that tells Vegas to import audio media at the project tempo. This allows you to drop ACID loops and other media with tempo data onto the timeline and Vegas will match their tempos just like ACID does. If you need to change the tempo, change it in the project first, then everything imported after that will use the new tempo but existing audio will be unaffected.

  I believe you can do everything you want right in Vegas.
