Broadcasting colours
Hi everybody,
when doing a dvd project for TV. How do you guys handle the problem with broadcasting safe colours.
I heard that the AE plug in is not that good.
Are there any other ways to make sure that the whatever i doing for that project in Broadcasting safe colours?Thanks

I heard that the AE plug in is not that good.
The Broadcast Colors effect is fine for determining which colors are not broadcast-safe. The problems come when you depend on that effect to automatically make all of the color changes for you. In the documentation for that effect, I recommend using it as a diagnostic tool, but not to automatically change your color values.
Color Finesse has some features for keeping colors broadcast-safe.

I definitely agree with Dave that—whatever you use to find the out-of-range colors—you fix them yourself. You certainly don’t want a simplistic software algorithm to affect all colors when you only need to tweak one little thing.
I also agree that scopes are the best way to do the diagnosis. I haven’t used Scopo Gigio myself, but I’ve heard good things about it. If you don’t have it, though, the software scopes in Color Finesse are better than nothing.
