  • Vegas – hit the maximum resolution wall?

    Hello, gentlemen!

I am running Vegas Pro 8.0. For various reasons, it’s imperative that I render my videos out at 2335 x 1313 pixel resolution.
However, whenever I type “2335” into the properties window, Vegas disregards it and instantly switches that to “2048.” (See attached screengrab) – https://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1231/vegassettings.jpg

Is 2048 the maximum width that Vegas can handle? And if not, any ideas on how to get it to accept my demands of 2335?

    Thanks in advance!

Vegas Pro 9 and 10 support 2k and 4k resolution and should be able to handle your file res as well. 4k is 4096 x 2304.
    Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Yes, Vegas 8 doesn’t support frame sizes more than 2048
The maximum frame size in Vegas 9 and 10 is 4096×4096

Aha, excellent. That helps a lot. Thanks!
I’ll have a mess around with Vegas 9 now then.

Hmm… are you sure? I’m trying Vegas 9 now and it’s still only allowing me to type in 2048, as per screenshot here: https://img838.imageshack.us/img838/8528/vegassettings90.jpg

    Very odd!

    From the Pro 9 Readme:

    New Features in Version 9.0
    Video

    * Support for frame sizes up to 4096×4096 (see the Video tab in Project Properties).
The line in brackets is the crucial step.

Ahaaaa… I see! Thanks very much. I’m now rendering a test video at 2335×1313 as we speak, and all seems well.
    Thanks again,

    Paul J.
