Editing Videos
Hey guys. I just got Sony Vegas 10. It’s a huge step from Windows Movie Maker haha. I have two videos that I have on one project. I was wondering how I would go about getting both videos to play right next to each other? or this would be better since this is a video of me playing the rhythm guitar and lead part of a song on the guitar, how would I go about just having the rhythm video playing the whole time and when the leads come up, switch the video to the lead video and then back to rhythm? Thanks a lot. I hope that makes sense.

Place each video on a separate track. Mute the audio on one of the tracks so that only one is heard. Place Envelopes on each track and raise & lower the levels on each video track as you switch back and forth. Place keyframes to control this.

For switching back and forth, you can use the ‘S’ get to Split out a part of one video and then place a section of the other video in it’s place. Or… you can place the two videos on two tracks and use the ‘S’ key to split out the parts you don’t want in one to reveal what you do want in the video track below.
Vegas displays video from the top down. So top tracks will cover lower tracks meaning any track above another will be display instead of the track below.

I may have misunderstood the question. Do you want two videos side by side?
