I am using Sony Vegas Pro 9 to edit some videos and I was wondering if there was a way to edit the color. In specific, I want to have the video in black and white, but have one article, like a red scarf for example, still be in color. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Yes, apply the Color Corrector (Secondary) to your video event and use the eyedropper to select just the red scarf. Then check Invert Mask and desaturate the rest of the frame by setting the Saturation to zero.

The process is called “Color Pass” so if you Google “color pass vegas pro” you should find some tutorials on it.

The same plug-in that John mentioned also has a built-in preset called ‘Desaturate All but Reds’, but the method John mentioned is good for isolating any colour.
