  • Setting Multiple Multicam Takes To 1 Take Doesn’t Join Takes

    Hello…
I’m using Vegas 10 and have a 6 camera shoot. I was watching multiple multicam videos and one said that, if I select a section of the multicam timeline and choose a take, it would replace all the clips within that selection with 1 take. I’m trying to figure out how to word that correctly, so please bear with me.
Currently, it takes all my clips and changes them to the same take, but it doesn’t join them all into 1 clip. It’s just clip after clip of the same take.
A little background about my timeline…
Some of my video tracks have multiple clips. When I select and do multicam, it creates a clip every time a new clip occurs in the original timeline. All the tutorials that I’ve seen are with tracks of the same length and in/out positions. Mine start/end at different places. I think that’s why it’s creating multiple clips during the multitrack creation.
The thing is that I want to start with as clean of a slate as I can (track 1 of video being the main footage).
Is there a way I can clean up my multitrack?

If these are truly contiguous events, you can just delete the event on the right and extend the end of the event on the left and you will have one long event.

That was one of the first things that I tried.
For some reason, when I delete other clips and extend the first one, other cameras (takes? trying to figure out the terminology of vegas) aren’t available in the preview windows or right-click – takes. Right-click – takes says m11x (first camera), (no camera), (no camera), etc…
If I don’t delete, I can choose different cameras. I’m not sure what the deal is.
Again, I assume that it has something to do with the way my clips are on the timeline.

I think all the breaks in my multicam track are where a clip starts.

Hmmm… the other takes should be under the original event but I remember now that your tracks are not continuous and you have all sorts of breaks in your footage. I think you just have to live with what you have because your cameras were not rolling continuously.
