  • An issue with Vegas 10c

When source material for a given Vegas project is removed from one drive and copied to another, or even taken from a given folder and moved into another, Vegas will pause during load up, indicate that a file is missing from that project, and give the operator options as to “Search” “Specify new location” or “ignore” that file. Once Vegas is directed to the new location it will then prompt the operator of other files it has located in that new path and ask to load them as well.

Or so it used to do that. I am finding more often the need to search multiple “missing” files one at a time even if they are in the same folder as a previous “missing” file. This can be in the hundreds and can be a major roadblock. What happened? Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?

I hope my explanation of the issue was clear.

I have noticed an additional prompt in Vegas Pro 10. Sometimes it will ask for the same file twice but with two completely different looking dialogs so there is definitely something different going on now. I haven’t pinned it down yet. I would contact Sony support and ask them if you can reproduce the problem. I agree it doesn’t seem right.

Same here, I have been asked multiple times as well on files in the same folder that have been moved….

I am an optimist and have always assumed that each new version of Sony Vegas either added new tools or improved on the old ones. But with Vegas 10 something happened. Options that had been added and ironed out years ago are now biting me. Like the visible time code issue and now the “missing file” cluster …

Vegas 10 went from a to b to c in very rapid succession and still these problems exist.

If anyone discovers a work around for the missing files issue, please let us know.

I have to admit that I have experienced this too. Makes you wonder how effective Sony is in their source code control and regression testing
