  brighter video after render

  Why my project after rendering to DV pal or MPEG-2 comes out brighter than in the preview window? It’s pretty annoying. The preview is not “What You See Is What You Get”?

  How are you judging this brightness change?
  Unless you’ve added some kind of FX, Vegas is WYSIWYG.
  You can’t trust a media player like Windows Media Player.
  Drop the rendered clip back on the Vegas timeline and do a direct comparison.

  I’ll do it. But is there any player (except Vegas) that is neutral to colors, brightness and contrast?

  I just found an answer to my own question. I switched the project color depth to 32-floating point, full range (2,222) and the render is exactly the same as the Vegas preview.
