Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Edit list from old sessions

  • Edit list from old sessions

In the old days of Betacam SP linear editing I had a Grass valley edit list I could use to call up an entire old edit session and rebuild the program from that saved copy. With Vegas Pro I do not seem to be able to find the original edit list that I can recall to fix a couple of shots. If I tag a new scene on to the rendered edit that I can recall, I lose quality on the already rendered portion as it cuts to the new piece. (In effect, double rendering the old section) Obviously that will not do. What am I doing wrong in not saving the original edit list for recall. I notice Vegas only saves about 6 previous sessions on the File list. How do I correct the missing original edit list and in the future where do I store it so I can find it a week, a month later? And for now where can I find that old edit session?
    Thanks,

    Mims

You save your editing session as a project and it becomes a file with a .veg extension. This is essentially your edit decision list. It is totally non-destructive. You should keep these project (.veg) files with your source media for future editing.
