How to make an image spin
If, for example, I have a picture of a tire, and I wanted that tire to “roll” from left to right on the screen, how would I do that?
If I just key frame it in various positions, it doesn’t seem like I have any control over whether it spins counter-clockwise or clockwise.
Does anyone know of an effect that can do this? I’m using Sony Vegas 8.

That perfectly smooth animation you are looking for is not
really available in Vegas…The track motion feature is what
you would use, But as i said it, you may not get the perfect
look you are looking for.
Always best to have a motion graphics software to compliment Vegas
when it comes to these tasks.Steve Rhoden

I would use Pan/Crop to rotate the tire and Track Motion to move it across the screen. You should only need two keyframes, one at the start and one at the end.
If you want it to look realistic, you’ll need recall your geometry and calculate the circumference of the tire and move it forward one rotation per circumference length. (you did pay attention in geometry class didn’t you?) lol

John’s right. Two keyframes is all you need, and want. You don’t want the tire to change the speed in which it rotates, and more than two keyframes can easily do that if your not carefull. The track motion has the rotate feature as well as pan and crop. John, is there any benefit rotating it in pan and crop instead of doing the rotate and moving acroos the screen all in the track motion window?

No, no reason at all… I just wasn’t thinking. You can do the whole thing with Track Motion. (duh!)
