After render audio mostly in right channel
Hello,
I’m having a problem in Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Production Suite, where when I render my 5.1 audio into DVD Architect I am ending up with audio mostly playing in the right channel and very little in the left.
I burned a DVD to see if it would play differently once burned but the issue remained. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me deal with this issue? Thanks in advance!

You are rendering the audio as an .ac3 file aren’t you?

Are you doing Blu Ray?
From what I understand, Movie Studio uses the “STUDIO” ac3 encoder (as opposed to the Pro level encoder found in Vegas pro). The Studio encoder is not certified to work with Blu Ray nor will it function properly. You will need the pro encoder, or simply render as Dolby Stereo.

If you’re doing DVD then it’s best to render a SEPARATE audio and video file (a AC3 file and your video file) and then import this to DVDa which will mux them together when it builds the disk.

Thanks so much for your help. Yes, it turned out to be an issue with trying to render it as a surround sound track. Once I changed the project properties to stereo the problem was solved when I rendered the audio track. Makes me wonder though why they even include the option to render in surround if it doesn’t work…

wmv files can be rendered with surround sound as well as a few others. For surround sound dvds, they need an .ac3 file muxed with the dvd compliant mpg to get 5.1 audio.

I have a Sony CX-500V camera. It is defaulted to record in 5.1 sound. When I first started editing video, Vegas would ask me if I wanted to work in 5.1. This worked fine for 5.1 but I noticed the same thing with sound more directed to one channel when I selected editing in stereo. After I changed the camera setting to stereo rather than 5.1, I found that everything now flows smoothly. 5.1 on this camera is for the most part a gimmick and marketing ploy anyways. I am very happy in leaving it set to stereo and the sound is now well balanced.
