Is Songy Vegas 8 known to be this glitchy?
I just spent 5 hours editing a video and when I rendered it I found out EVERYTHING is off by a little bit. The sound, the text, the slow motion. Not to mention while I was using it, it would regularly mess me up by mixing up frames (if I zoomed in too far… why does it do that?) and with other horrendous problems as well. Are problems with SVP8 common or is what I’m saying new? And if they are, do you know if Sony Vegas 9 is a little better because I haven’t tried it yet.

Albert, Vegas is at version 10. You did not say which edition of Vegas you are using. Plus, not knowing your source footage and how it was acquired and what you are trying to render it to makes it difficult to assist you.
If you upgrade to version 10, you will be able to open and edit your project, but will not be able to edit the version 10 project back in version 8.
Sony Vegas is one of the most stable and reliable editing suites on the market. I have used other products and found Vegas to be a stalwart performer.

Sorry about that, the version of Vegas I’m using is 8.0c. My computer is an eMachines ET1331G, AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250u processor, that runs the 64bit version of Windows 7. Also I have 3.75 GB of usable RAM.
As for my footage, I’m pretty sure it’s legit. I’m recording videos from a dazzle capture card off my tv (video game stuff) and I guess I render them as .wmv files (or whatever the preset video file for VLC media player is).
I’ve read in another thread that it could have something to do with codecs although I don’t really know what those are. Or could it be that my copy of Vegas is corrupt somehow? (I got a pirated version but all the comments said it was good :\)

Sorry to say this but don’t expect a lot of help as we’re legitimate Vegas users who paid for the product.

Why should that deny me the right to get assistance? I’m still just another person who needs help… If you meant that the users here aren’t knowledgeable in pirating then that’s a different story.

I didn’t know you had to pay the people on the internet to ask for their help. :\ That’s what’s great about the internet, is that it connects complete strangers and allows them to help one another. This is a question of morality to you, not whether I paid for my support or not. If you don’t want to help me out because I got something intelligently, that’s fine. I’m sure this doesn’t matter to a lot of other kind people who see me as one of their own who needs help.

Given your views, I would be more than happy to refer your case to Sony legal, and see if they share your point of view. You have acquired the software through dishonest means and have the gall to admit and defend it in a public forum. That’s either gutsy or extremely naive.
In the case of software development, it is piracy that denies the developer (Sony) of its right to receive income, after Sony has developed the intellectual property, Sony pays people to improve and support the product. You take away that incentive (i.e. income source), and R&D and support dries up, and eventually, the product is discontinued/desupported.
Think of it another way. You get a job in IT as a developer/support person. It could be your job and livelihood that is impacted by the dishonest actions of others.
