event pan crop / changing ratio
Is there a method to change the aspect ratio for a large group of still pics? I want to change the aspect ratio to fit 16:9 but it looks like I have to go into each picture and change them one at a time.

If there is nothing else on the event (i.e., no FX’s or anything) you can crop the first event, then select all the other events, right-click one of them, and choose Paste Event Attributes and the cropping will be pasted to them.

Change the aspect ratio on the first picture.
Copy it.
Click picture #2, shift+click the last one in the group, right-click any of them and select Paste Event Attributes.
Please note that, if you have any other FX on the first one, that FX will be copied to all other images.
This also means that any FX you may have had on any other images gets overwritten when you do this. -

Wow! That was quick for an answer. I’m getting a number of pictures using this method with black lines on the top and bottom. Looking at the picture in pan/crop it has changed the aspect ration but on the preview window a black line appears on the top and bottom. The only way to rid it is to restore the pic and change the aspect on each offending picture.
Not a big deal. I’ll just go in and change them manually. -
As long as your project properties are set to widescreen, open Pan/Crop on the first image, right-click and select Match Output Aspect and then follow the copy/paste procedure outlined earlier.
If you have Ultimate S or Excalibur, they can do this for you automatically.
If not, here’s a script I used to use a lot specifically for this purpose.
Unzip it and place it in your Vegas script folder. -

Paste Attributes will only work if the dimensions of each picture are the same. It is not actually cropping the picture to match the output aspect but rather cropping the picture to match the crop of the first picture that you copied from. So this technique will only work for pictures that have the same dimensions as the first picture.
