Standard Definition Widescreen Settings
I have recorded a video in Widescreen SD with my JVC Everio GZ-MG330 and edited it in Sony Vegas 7. Now, I wonder what the best rendering settings are for the standard definition Widescreen. I believe that the camera records in 720×480 pxls, but no matter what settings I use in sony vegas for both properties and rendering, the video won’t show up in Widescreen. I tried both PAL and NTSC, but none of them works. I tried rendering it in AVI form, which makes the video widescreen on my computer, but when you right-click the file and watch the information on it, the video’s 780×576 pxls, and therefor it becomes 4:3 when i upload it to YouTube. There is a format that works for me which makes the video Widescreen on both my computer and on YouTube, 960×540 pxls, but that is bigger than the original video’s frame size, and that makes it so the video quality is a lot worse than it could have been. So I wonder if there is any way to render the video in 720×480 pxls, or at least so the height of it is 480pxls, in Sony Vegas, that makes the video Widescreen on both my computer and on Youtube, without lowering the quality?

Start with the project settings: NTSC DV Widescreen (720×480, 29.970 fps). When you render use MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) and select the Default Template. Press the Custom… button and on the Video tab set the settings up like this and then save it as your YouTube template:

Okay, I didn’t have the 3,000,000 or the 1,500,000 options, so when i saved it as an mp4 file, it became all pixely. I used the same pxls whan i saved it as a wmv, but then there was lines at the bottom and at the top, when i try to adjust it, the lines stay at the top, and it also gets lines on the sides then aswell. Is there a way to save it so it is excactly like 720×480 pxls, so that the lines at the top and the bottom doesn’t show up, if you know what I mean.

Type the numbers in with your keyboard… it’s an editable list.
