I’m working with a Particular star field I’ve made, and thanks to another post I’ve figured out how to rotate over it end over end but now I have another problem…

    The controls are… off.

Here is what I’m doing: (the order doesnt seem to matter, same issues)
Create a Null, make it 3d.
Create a camera, parent it to the Null.
Create a solid, add Particular, set for stars.
Start to adjust camera via Null controls (can I get the same controls on the null as I do the camera?) and everything goes crazy…
So I hit Reset for the position of all things… and it doesn’t come back to position one.

So I started over, and before I moved anything I hit reset on position for each object… my logical brain tells me this should not do anything because I’ve not changed anything to reset…

Well my view jumps and now my 3d layers are all Anchor Point in the upper left corner of my comp visual area…

If I haven’t moved anything why would Reset cause it to jump? I am fairly sure its the parent to the Null… So I tried to set their anchor points the same, tried to set their position the same, both of which results in me never being able to find a single 3d layer in space ever again…

I am definately doing something wrong or missing some concept. I use reset all the time when I screw up 3d layers, but this is the first time with a Null controlled camera (again, how do I get my camera style controls for a Null with a camera child?? that would be awesome!).

    Thanks for any help!

Or better yet, is there another way to get full 360 sphere spin around a Particular object without having to use a Null to get the longitude axis spin without the flipping that occurs?

One more thing… once I hit Reset my Null locks itself to the top left corner, and I can’t move it at all! I can rotate just fine, but trying to move it along the X Y or Z axis does not work.

Yeah, dude. Parent a Null to whatever object you want a camera to rotate around, then parent a Camera to that null.

From there you can rotate the Null or the Object and get different results from your Camera.

Is that what you were looking for?
