  • Sony Vegas unable to load project files

I use Sony Vegas 8 and was working on a project until I tried to open it this morning and this error came up –

“Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files.
The files is an unsupported format.”

The project file has not been moved or anything since I last used it, and it is still displayed as a Sony Vegas file in the folder, but it still comes up with that message every time.

If anyone knows how to fix this I’d be so grateful because honestly I’m doomed if I can’t get the project file working again, I just don’t have time to start again.

Look for the backup file (something like myproject.veg.bak), copy it to another folder, rename it by deleting the .bak portion and see if that opens it up.
If it does, save it immediately under a new project name/version number.

That fixed it completely! Thank you so much, you’re a life saver! 🙂
