Hello all. Here’s my deal…I rotoscoped a moving figure and exported a version which came out alright. I went back in to tweak some points on the mask and rendered out another version, but this version came out as a square mask…all bezier curves were ignored after the render.

Here are some steps I’ve taken at attempting to remedy the situation:
    -restarted ae
    -rendered out at best quality
    -trashed ae preferences
    -apply mask on solid layer

I’ve never experienced this before and I’m completely stumped as to what’s going on. Hopefully I’ve explained my situation well enough for you to picture the problem I’m having. If not, the links below are of screenshots of my workspace, the good render of the bezier mask, and the bad render.

Thank you all in advance and I hope to hear from you soon.

At one point I thought that I had enabled Rotobezier, but I didn’t.

Here’s a link where you can download a zip of the ae file:

Thanks for your input Mr. David LaRonde. So the solution to the issue was that I was rendering out lossless w/alpha UNMATTED instead of MATTED. That was it!

Now that I have the rendered mask, I’m having issues with it being darker than the clean plate I put it on. I’ve tried adjusting levels with no success. Would you happen to know if there’s a trick to getting a mask to blend seamlessly with a clean plate? Or is this issue just a matter of continuously tweaking the levels until I get it right?

    Thanks in advance!

    Genuinely,
    Phillip
