I transfer old film (8mm and Super 8)to DVD.

Recently, I have tried New Blue Color Contrast. It vastly improves the color in the film.

However…this is always a however, when I apply it, I am getting a render error message “Can not be determined” What I discovered was with the color contrast in place, there may be one frame which the film was spliced which is causing the color contrast to turn bright red and the next frame to turn extremely white.

This is my problem. I have over 4 hours worth of film. I have tried the overall “Broadcast color” fx but is still won’t allow me to render.

Is there a way that Vegas will tell where on the timeline the problem lies? So I can edit out that frame or two. I can watch it render and see where it stops, but I really don’t want to do that for 4 hours. I have tried fast forwarding etc, but since it’s only one frame, I find my mind wondering while looking at it 🙂

There is no way that you can determine where a render is failing. Try rendering in sections using a timeline selection. This will at least narrow it down to a smaller piece of video.

BTW, if you render to DV AVI files you can place all the sections back into another project and render to DVD MPEG2 from there with almost no loss so the section renders can be reused if you want to.
