    Hi again,
I’m trying to add small selected clips from Hollywood movies into my general “narrative” (amateur) videos, which are assembled and edited in Vegas. The movies are on standard DVD disks.
This seems difficult: DVD Decrypter produces “.VOB” and Vegas will not accept them. Renaming the filename from .VOB to .MPG, or .WMA or .MOV won’t work either. Several free “DVD-to….” decoders produce .AVI but when these results are loaded in Vegas there is the video OK, but no audio, nor any audio track at all.
Any suggestions as to what to do would be appreciated.

Try AutoGk and import as avi files.
It’s easy to use and free!

Why call tech support? I can smash my head into a wall without their help.

Thank you very much. I downloaded and used it and indeed it took the DVD and made an .avi out of it, with video and separate audio streams, and it fit well into Vegas 9.
(Most other conversion programs for some reason or another only produced the video portion ~ probably my fault.)
