    Hi,

    sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn’t find it on my searches.

    I’m kind of new to Vegas. Coming from Premiere, one of the first things that I find weird is the lack of sequences as it was a feature that I used to use lots back in Premiere.
    I understand that you can use nested files in Vegas and I’m alright about that (even though I find it a bit slow) but my question is:
    is there a way to better organize bins/media in between files? I mean, sometimes I split my projects in a few different files/sequences and I’m finding it very annoying having to import and reorganize the bins on every single project/file. Is there a way to create an external master bin that you can import in every single project and gets updated whenever you modify from any single project/file?

    thanks in advance!

    No, there is nothing like that in Vegas itself but there is a plug-in that can do this. I can see where the nested project concept lacks the ability to share media like sequences do.

    VASST, who I work for, has a plug-in for Vegas Pro called Ultimate S Lite that is a collection of productivity tools. There is also a Pro version. In it, is a tool that allows you to save Media Bin layouts and quickly recall them. It will also create file system folders to match the media bins when starting a new project. The Pro version can even import existing file system folders as media bins as well, and optionally import the media from the file system into the bins. It’s a real time saver. You might want to try the 15-day trial and see if it fits your needs.

    Here is a training video of how the media bin functions in Ultimate S Lite work:
    Ultimate S Setup Tab Training
    It’s best to watch it in HD on YouTube so you can see the interface better.

    Hi John,

    thanks for reply.
    I’ve already downloaded your plugin trial, I’ll give it a try. At first sight, i can’t find one important feature;
    Could i import and organize the footage/media within Vegas and then use an option for the plugin to recreate the media bins outside Vegas, do you know why I mean? At the moment i can only find the options to create ‘folders’, can Ultimate organize the actual media?

    thanks,

    Guille

    It will not reorganize your filesystem to match what’s in your media bins if that’s what you’re referring to. The Pro version will import the file system as media bins and import all of the media as well but it must first be on the filesystem.
