I’m having a problem with Vegas 32 bit locking up. I’m running Bootcamp on a Mac Pro Octocore, Windows 7 64 os, and Vegas 9.0e 32bit. Problem seems to be happening with any type of file, but I work mostly with AVCHD files right now. Have been also using standard def AVI files and mts files. No real changes to the system except for the addition of a 2 TB internal hard drive, but I was having this problem before that installation.

The program will open fine but is a little slow in loading project files. I can start working with a project and putting events in the timeline. After a few minutes of working it locks up. Seems to happen after about 4-5 minutes of working, but has not been consistant. Have tried seeing if a certain plug in was the problem by taking it out (Magic Bullet Looks 1.4). That didn’t fix it. Have turned off all other non essential programs and that didn’t work either. Have also unplugged all USB devices that were not needed. I am not getting an error message. Just a lock up and have to restart the program.

I have installed Vegas 9.0 64 bit and it seems to work fine. I can’t use Magic Bullet with it, though, because they don’t support 64 bit.

Anyone have any ideas on this one? I really need help to finish some projects I have going on. Thanks in advance!

I’m *only* running 32 bit on the Bootcamp partition…no issues at all.
What about anti-virus? RAM? Running Parallels?

    Douglas,

Thanks for responding. No anti-virus. RAM is the standard for the machine (6gig of DDR3). No Parallels, but I did use the Virtual PC feature in Windows 7 Professional because it runs a virtual XP and had loaded Vegas 32bit on there back when I first got the computer. I thought that I had deleted the install from the virtual side, but perhaps that has something to do with it?

try backing up to vegas pro 9C.. Versions D and E are a mess. After trying to use E and crashing 6 times in a row (while a client was sitting with me) I switched back to verC and everything works great.

Tried backing it up right now with my original disk. Backed it up to 9.0a. Exact same problem. I put in the clips, post a few fades, and after a few clips in playback it starts stuttering the playback and eventually hangs up.

I was able to copy the problem details that Windows 7 gave me on the hangup. Here they are if it helps anyone at all:

    Description:
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

If anyone has any other ideas I would appreciate it. This is really killing me time wise.

    Thanks,
    Andy
