Is is possible to use the import AVCHD function in Vegas to import movie footage directly from the camera via usb WITHOUT having Vegas break up the footage into chapters? It breaks them up in 10 or 15 minute segments.

Are you using the Device Explorer? What version of Vegas are you using? In Vegas Pro 9.0e it doesn’t break anything up and in fact, it will stitch together files that the camera has broken up due to it’s FAT32 file system limitations.

I am using the new Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.
The device explorer window allows me to import clips.
Because I am filming live music shows, I cannot have the movie segmented into ‘automatic clips’.
I can bring the full movie into vegas through Sony’s PMB software without segments, but I was just wondering if it could be imported into Movie Studio 10 through the import AVCHD function uncut.
    Thanks.

Have you tried it with Movie Studio HD 10 using View | Device Explorer (Ctrl+Atl+7)? Don’t use File Import. Try the Device Explorer instead. It looks like this:

The Device Explorer should show the multiple clips as one. Is this not what you are seeing?
