I used HP ltfs 3.4.2 and drag and drop the data to tape at the time of backup. When I tried to restore the data I forgot the version and tried with HP Ltfs 3.2.0. As it gets error I reinstalled 3.4.2 but no luck.

Dear Tim,

I have been using only IBM media ever since I started archiving in weather it is any brand drive. As you advised I will run a diagnostic test using hp l&tt and will see what are the results are going to be.

When I tried to mount the media from terminal I am getting these extra details unlike before. Can anyone explain what are these about?

The other thing I am noticing from past two days is that when I am doing wipe, format or mount the whole table is vibrating because of the drive, it was not there earlier.

I did tried with multiple tapes new and old. Tried with cleaning cartridge as well. It’s a rental drive and the provider is insisting drive is in perfect condition and the problem must be with the mac environment where he has no idea.

While I tried to mount tape through terminal I am getting some errors which I have never seen. Please check the attachment if there’s anyone seen them before please suggest me a solution. Thank you.

Another point is while formatting the cartridge it is saying “changing the drive setting to write anywhere mode” which actually prevents the tape ejecting. But still why is the tape getting ejected while formatting or running the backup?
