The key to getting the pixels to “dance”, as you put it, and look like live action video is to add grain (also known as noise). Even if you are adding some form of animation, grain is still needed. Our brains are very receptive to when it is absent and that’s why stills always look like stills without it.

There are of course plenty of great solutions out there far better than my ancient offering, but my version was always free and here it is updated to the latest FCP X version.

Ah, right, thanks, Michael. I’ve never had the occasion to try it with changing the font, although as you say you can do pretty much everything else this way.

Perhaps it’s a useful one for an enhancement request.

The control room config is set in the Video and Audio I/O Preferences.

You have your speaker config set to the default stereo set-up. If you swap to for example 5.1, then the control room meters will show that.
