I’ve located Mojave OS in the App Store. After I download it, will it ask me where I want to assign it and will I be able to install it on my external drive? I do NOT want to install it on my main HD which is running Sonoma 14.3.1. After that, I will install Retroactive. FCP 7 is already on that drive in the Application folder.

I used to be able to, prior to Monterey OS. Now, even with a separate partition on my hard drive running Catalina, it doesn’t work.

When trying to create a Blu-ray or DVD disk image, after making the h.264 video and Dolby Digital audio files, Create Disc crashes just before creating the disk image.

Yes, the advanced pulldown was automatically removed during Log & Transfer in FCP 7 which is what I got used to. That was my workflow. Then, switch over to FCP X for editing.

It would be great if Apple came up with this feature in an upgrade of FCP X. I’m going to suggest it in FCP Feedback.

The only way I could get PR422 to convert was to change the speed at the top of the panel from 29.97 to 23.98. When I did, the action was a bit stuttery. I can’t imagine doing this for a bunch of clips prior to editing. I would rather cut at 29.97.

“To do this, import the file to Compressor, add an HD1080p preset, then under the Video tab at right, go to the bottom to Quality>Retiming Quality, and pick “Reverse Telecine”. Then export that file and it should produce a 23.98p result with the advanced pulldown removed, which you can then import to FCPX.

Yes, I did, Jeremy. It doesn’t change the 29.97 clip when dropped in a 23.98 timeline.

OK. I’m going to re-send an original 24pA clip again which was ID’ed as 29.97.

Did you get them? There was a delay. I can re-send.

Take #1 was Log & Transferred in FCP 7 and is seen by FCP X as 23.98.

Take #9 was Imported in FCP X and seen in FCP X as 29.97.

Now when I exported and re-imported into FCP X the clips I am sending to you, FCP X sees them as 23.98. Both are 24pA footage.

I used the Import window. The remove pulldown option was grayed out. It’s just weird that in FCP 7 I never had to do this and my footage was always ID’ed as 23.98 fps. even when I opened those already imported clips in FCP X.

I think you are correct. But still don’t know why this would happen in FCP X and not in FCP 7.

I’m using the Panasonic HVX 200A and shooting in the 1080 24p advanced codec. When I used FCP7, the clips were always ID’ed as 23.98 fps. Now that I’m using FCP X, the clips at that setting from that camera are ID’ed as 29.97 fps.

Does anyone know what’s happening here and what the correct speed is?
